David Pacquette (KO) & Saro Presti (Italy)

 MUAY THAI ADDICTS I – 31st May 2009 - FIGHT REPORT

On Sunday 31st of May, in front a sold-out crowd at the Porchester Hall, David Pacquette became the new WKN World Champion (70kg).

Outclassing Saro Presti, his Italian opponent, both technically and physically, David took a well deserved points win after 5 rounds of 3mn under full thai rules. Such an event last happened in 2005 when Sak Nayagam won the WMTO Welterweight World Title for KO Gym. Well done David!

Highlights of David Pacquette’s career include English, British and World Championship Titles. He has fought the top fighters in the UK as well as some of the best Thai fighters including Samkor Keatmonthep. While training in Thailand, David featured in the famous Rajadamnern stadium in Bangkok. Then in 2008, he represented the UK in the first season of ‘The Contender Asia’ (a televised international Muay Thai tournament broadcast worldwide). David is also one of the instructors at KO Gym in Bethnal Green.

Greg Wootton (KO Gym) was at his very best to beat Adam Lee Mason and take the UKMF British title. Both fighters demonstrated a high technical standard and the fight was breathtaking.

Wendell Roche (Holland) came confident after his recent win in the prestigious show “It’s Show Time Oktagon 2009” in Milan. He used his long experience as a fighter (200 fights) to beat Attila Boros (KO Bloodline) on points in a contest fought under k1 rules.

Kerith Bhella vs Martin Goik (KO Gym)

Both fighters started off at a fairly quick pace.  Bhella started off working lots of leg kick combinations early in the fight, which paid dividends in later rounds. Goik answered with several punch combinations of his own, however Bhella was often allusive and displayed great ring movement and vision.

Arnold Oborotov vs Litu

The fight started off as Litu came out aggressively against Oborotov, backing him up and forcing him to counter fight.  As the both fighters settled into the fight, Orborotov imposed his fight plan on Litu.  In the 2nd round it became apparent that Litu was having a difficult time defending himself against Oboratov’s knees in the clinch, Orboratov went on to score several 8 counts in the fight which went easily his direction.

Isabelle Aranega (KO Gym) and Carla Sullivan (Semtex) went into war for the UKMF Southern Area Title for which Carla took a very very close decision.

Joseph varela vs Dave Lythe

The fighters came out in a measured pace and both were displaying composure and landed a lot of clean shots.  In the middle of the 2nd round Lythe injured his right foot as Varela checked his kick.  Lythe was able to continue but was unable to kick with his right leg.  Varela took full advantage of this and controlled the rest of the fight comfortable.  Lythe was still dangerous and landing some good shots with hands, but it wasn’t enough.

Claudia Celder (KO Gym) vs Lisa Smith

Both fighters came out composed and measured.  Claudia utilized her height and reach advantage to great affect.  Claudia was able to land teeps and long knees virtually without answer.  Lisa displayed great heart but was clearly flustered by her inability to in fight with Claudia.  Claudia was dominant in the clinch and was able to land long knee attacks without answer from Lisa.

Tanat Tiraposin (KO Gym) came out composed and had Martin Rowe on his heels most of the fight.  Tanat landed several double leg and body kick combinations.  In the later rounds Rowe inspired by his large following gained momentum and began to push back against Tanat.  Rowe landed some clean shots with his hands, but it in the end it was too late.

Yahia Abaza vs Paolo Melgrati , This fight was declared a no contest as Paolo Melgrati was unable to continue do to injury.

Kaz Azim  vs Anirbar Basar

This fight started off at a blistering pace.  Both fighters were aggressive and landed quite a few clean kicks and punches.  As both fighters settled down, Azim began to pick his shots and the fight really began to go his way.  Azim was dominant in the clinch and was able to land a lot of powerful knees without answer.  In the end Azim connected with a very strong left head kick and Basar was unable to continue.

Mike Neun is an imposing fighter and towered over Valentino Petrescsu.  Valentino proved to be a exceptionally boxer and was employed a hit and run tactic that worked well for him.  When Neun clinched up Valentino, it was apparent the size and weight difference was going sapping Valentino.  Valentino continued to land inside leg kicks and uppercuts without too much resistance.

Congratulations to all the fighters who showed a great spirit .The support of the crowd guaranteed an electric atmosphere and the event ran smoothly thanks to the commitment of the KO staff.

"The show went really well I could not have wished for better . A Sell out capacity crowd witnessed a fantastic evening of Muay Thai and K1 rules fights.

The atmosphere was electric similar to one of my previous promotions (Wakeling v Ying Yai WMC world title), After so many disapointments (Bad decesions) David Pacquette won the WKN world title in Style .
Greg was at his very best to beat Adam lee mason . What a fight it had it all !
The other rising stars of KO Arnold, Joseph ,Tanat ,ruqsanna, Caulder, Mark(felt his opponent won that fight) really impressed.
My heart went out to Isabelle who fought and lost a very very close fight to Carla (Semtex gym ) "
